Aromas of pear, honeysuckle and white peach are backed by fresh fruit flavors and balanced acidity on the palate.
Mil CAmpos - RIbera del Duero, Spain - $18/b - The nose is shy at first with a bouquet of subtle black cherry, iodine and violet, but in the mouth it is simply divine, with filigree tannins and an easy finish that is pure and balanced, cleaning the mouth and leaving you longing for another sip. Produced from 50 year old vines! Exceptional.
Gordon Estate - Columbia Valley, wa - $24/b - A generous nose of dried violets, blueberries and plum. Palate notes of blueberries and plum that they spill to the plush palate conjuring an overflowing bowl of fruit. Red cherry and raspberry flavors are interwoven seamlessly. Aged for 40 months in a combination of French and American oak, the wine was never filtered or racked.
Diaz Bayo, Reserva -RIbera del Duero, Spain $30/b - 100% Tempranillo from three high elevation parcels: El Mirón at 920 meters with 60 year old vines on clay soils; El Gallo at 870-910 meters with 30 year old vines on limestone soils; Las Fuentes Viejas at 850 meters with over 80 year old vines on clay and limestone soils.
